(ESP) Roque o Raquel Salas Rivera (él/elle) es un poeta y traductor puertorriqueño de experiencia trans nacido en Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. Sus reconocimientos incluyen el nombramiento como Poeta Laureado de la ciudad de Filadelfia, el Premio Nuevas Voces y el inaugural Premio Ambroggio. Cuenta con seis poemarios, entre ellos lo terciario/ the tertiary (Noemi Press, 2019), que fue semifinalista para el National Book Award y ganador del Lambda Literary Award y while they sleep (under the bed is another country) (Birds LLC, 2019), la inspiración para el título de la exhibición no existe un mundo poshuracán: Puerto Rican Art in the Wake of Hurricane Maria en el Whitney Museum of American Art.

Ha sido el editor de las antologías Puerto Rico en mi corazón (Anomalous Press, 2019) y La piel del arrecife: Antología de poesía trans puertorriqueña (La Impresora & Atarraya Cartonera, 2023) y la revista literaria The Wanderer. También cuenta con las traducciones The Rust of History (Circumference Press, 2022), una selección de la obra poética de su abuelo Sotero Rivera Avilés y The Book of Conjurations de Irizelma Robles, que recibió el 2023 Sundial Literary Translation Award.

Salas Rivera obtuvo un Doctorado en Literatura Comparada y Teoría Literaria de la Universidad de Pensilvania y vive, enseña y escribe en Puerto Rico, donde es un investigador y el supervisor del equipo de traducción para El proyecto de la literatura puertorriqueña/ The Puerto Rican Literature Project (PRLP), un portal digital bilingüe y de libre acceso que usuarios pueden utilizar para conocer y enseñar la poesía puertorriqueña.

Acompañado por su gata, Pietri, al presente escribe un poema épico trans titulado Algarabía, que será publicado en el 2025 por Graywolf Press.

He edited the anthologies Puerto Rico en mi corazón (Anomalous Press, 2019) and La piel del arrecife: Antología de poesía trans puertorriqueña (La Impresora & Atarraya Cartonera, 2023) and the literary journal The Wanderer. He has translated The Rust of History (Circumference Press, 2022), a selection of the poetry by his grandfather Sotero Rivera Avilés, and The Book of Conjurations by Irizelma Robles, winner of the 2023 Sundial Literary Translation Award.

Salas Rivera holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory from the University of Pennsylvania and lives, teaches, and writes in Puerto Rico, where he works as investigator and head of the translation team for El proyecto de la literatura puertorriqueña/ The Puerto Rican Literature Project (PRLP) bilingual, open access digital portal that anyone can use to learn about and teach Puerto Rican poetry.

Accompanied by his cat, Pietri, he is currently working on the trans epic poem Algarabía, which will be published in 2025 by Graywolf Press.
